Sherrard scored eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings to erase a five-run deficit and beat Alleman 10-8 in the semifinals of the 2A Alleman Regional on Wednesday.
Trailing 7-2 entering the top of the sixth, the Tigers (15-11) scored five runs to tie the game. The rally was capped by a two-out three-run home run by Makensie Westfall, who finished with four RBI.
Alleman (17-11) responded with back-to-back two-out hits in the bottom of the sixth and reclaimed an 8-7 lead on an RBI double by Sydnee Ganahl.
With runners at first and third and two outs in the top of the seventh, Sherrard junior Tessa Driessens laced a two-run double to put the Tigers ahead 9-8. Sherrard added an insurance run on an error later in the inning.
The Pioneers had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Westfall got a strikeout and ground out to end the game and strand the runners on base.
Kaylee Faccio had four hits in the win. Westfall was the winning pitcher, allowing eight runs (five earned) on 14 hits in seven innings.
Sherrard advances to play Riverdale (25-4) in the regional championship on Saturday at 11 a.m.
