Police Chase Ends With Suspect Crashing Into Keithsburg Home

A man is facing multiple felonies after he was arrested following a police chase that ended with him crashing his vehicle into a Keithsburg home on Thursday.

Joshua Chapman was arrested and evaluated by medical personnel at MercyOne Genesis Aledo Medical Center after the crash.

According to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release, deputies were asked to assist New Boston Police with an investigation on Thursday morning. Law enforcement tried to make contact with Chapman, who had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The press release says Chapman then fled from Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies and New Boston Police and eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed the car into a house in Keithsburg. According to deputies, the residence sustained substantial damage, but nobody who lives at the house was injured.

Following the crash, Chapman was charged with three Class 4 felony counts of Aggravated Fleeing/Attempting to Elude and is also being held on a parole violation warrant. Formal charges are pending, and he will remain in custody at the Mercer County Jail, pending a court appearance.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by New Boston Police, Keithsburg Fire, Elite Industrial Ambulance and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.
