Peoria Visitor On A Mission For Rhubarb Wine At Ferg’s During Aledo’s Rhubarb Fest

Standing in line at Ferg’s Public House, Peggy told WRMJ’s Terry James she’s no first-timer. “I’ve been coming probably about five or six years,” she said with a smile. “We love it. We come every year.”

For Peggy, Rhubarb Fest is more than just a fun summer outing—it’s an annual tradition. From the food to the people, it’s a place that draws her back. “We’re rhubarb lovers,” she explained. “I even grow rhubarb at home.”

But this year, her visit came with an extra layer of responsibility. “I’ve been ordered to pick up some rhubarb wine,” she laughed. “So I’m here on a mission.”

That mission is part of what makes Rhubarb Fest so special. Visitors like Peggy not only enjoy the festival for themselves—they share it with friends and family, turning it into a celebration that travels back with them, whether it’s in the form of a bottle of wine, a slice of pie, or just great memories.

As Peggy waited in line for her coveted rhubarb wine, she praised the welcoming atmosphere and friendly vibe Aledo offers. “It’s just a great town,” she said. “We always feel at home here.”

Rhubarb Fest continues to be a beacon for both locals and those who travel miles to enjoy the flavor, fun, and friendliness that defines Aledo. And thanks to guests like Peggy, it’s clear the festival’s reach—and reputation—is only growing.
