Matherville Man Arrested On Child Sex Abuse Charges

A Matherville man is facing child sexual abuse charges following an Illinois State Police (ISP) investigation.

According to an ISP press release, 24-year-old Bryce Berhenke was arrested on Thursday when agents executed a search warrant at his residence and collected electronic devices. ISP analyzed the evidence and found child sexual abuse materials.

Berhenke is charged with five Class X felony counts of dissemination of child sexual abuse materials, three Class 2 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials under the age of 13, and two Class 3 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials over the age of 13.

Berhenke remains in custody at the Mercer County Jail.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office assisted with the investigation.
