Mary Lou McCreight – Visitation 12/30/22

Mary Lou McCreight, 87 of Aledo, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Mercer Manor, Aledo. Visitation is 4 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 30, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County VFW or the Aledo Fire Department.

Mary Lou Schmidt was born on June 22, 1935, in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois to George and Kathryn (Sullivan) Schmidt. She married C. Dean McCreight on January 25, 1958, in Edgington, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2022.

Mary Lou was the Activity Director for Lynncrest Manor, Aledo for over 20 years. She and Dean were members of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church, where Mary Lou enjoyed attending circle with her fellow farm wives. She was a member of the Mercer County Home Extension and the Monday Morning Sunbeam Coffee Group. Mary Lou and Dean enjoyed camping and their winters in Texas and in their earlier years, they loved to go dancing. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Sherie and Randy Sackville and Pam and Tony Myers, all of Aledo; grandchildren: Kelly and Jason Kellett, Lindsay and Rob McKay, Amanda and Ben Miller, and Brandi and Megan Myers; and great-grandchildren: Evan, Carson, Cameron, and Easton “Squeak” Kellett, Lexi and Bryn McKay, and Ceola and Townsend Miller. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings: Mildred McQuady, Dale Schmidt, Raymond Schmidt, Vera Kadel, and Lois in infancy.

The family would like to thank Mercer Manor for the love and care given to both Mary Lou and Dean.
