Loyd V. Wakeland, 78 of Keithsburg, Illinois, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 19, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Funeral service is at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at the church. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Memorials may be left for Keithsburg Fire Department. Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Loyd Vaun was born September 10, 1947, at home in Keithsburg the son of Dean and Dorothy Lowery Wakeland. The 1965 graduate of Westmer High School went on to serve in the Naval Reserves. Right out of high school, Loyd went to work for John Deere for several years and then Kartridge Pak. He then took over his step-father’s business, owning and operating Wakeland Plumbing and Heating. On July 22, 1967, he married Judith O’Toole at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Keithsburg. Loyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap and skeet shooting, and tending to the farm. His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Wakeland; children, Randall (Racheal) Wakeland, Jenny Coulter, and Paul (Michelle) Wakeland; grandchildren, Allison, Rebecca, Anna Belle, and Catherine Wakeland, Haley (Colton) Gugeler, Karissa Coulter, and Walker and Raegan Wakeland; great granddaughters, Clarke and Lyndi Gugeler; and brothers, Ronnie Nuckles and Brian Wakeland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Wakeland and Dorothy Wolf, and brother, Roger Nuckles.
