Carole J. Schmidt, 87 of Aledo, died Monday, July 28, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital, North Liberty Campus. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 1, at the Aledo United Methodist Church, where Carole was a member. Visitation will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is assisting the family.
Carole Jean was born on July 8, 1938, in Aledo, Illinois, to Keith and Kathleen Lucille (Mann) Stevens. Carol received her associate degree from Black Hawk College. She married Ronald L. Schmidt on March 2, 2002, in Aledo. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2022.
Carole was employed in Medical Records with the Mercer County Hospital for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a talented quilter and seamstress and was a Die Hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Carole loved animals, especially her dog, Alfie.
Those left to cherish Carole’s memory include her children and spouses, Kirk and Linda Reusch of Lake Zurich, Tim and Shelly Reusch of Aledo, and Todd Reusch of Des Moines; stepchildren, Ronald P. Schmidt of Dewitt, Iowa, Lee Schmidt of Davenport, and Laura Sharon of Wyoming, Michigan; grandchildren, Jeremy and Kelsey Reusch, Zachary Reusch and fiancé, Katie, Eric Reusch, Jake Reusch, and Joe Reusch and fiancé, Sienna; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Carole was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; and a sister, Francie.
