Bonnie J. Fisher – Services 12/28/22

Bonnie J. Fisher, 92 of Joy, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Private burial will be in Peniel Cemetery, Joy. Memorials may be made to the Joy Fire Department.

Bonnie Jean was born on July 13, 1930, in Shale City, Rural Mercer County, Illinois to Malon and Edna (Esp) Vipond. She married Dwaine L. Fisher on December 22, 1951, in Aledo. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2014.

Bonnie was a dedicated homemaker who loved raising her children and taking care of her grandkids. She was the coach for the first girls’ softball team in Joy and was President of the PTA. In her earlier years, she enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and playing cards, especially pitch. She was a die-hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Bonnie was of the Jehovah Witness faith.

Bonnie is survived by her children and their spouses: Greg and Debbie Fisher of New Boston, Jeff and Peggy Fisher of Oquawka, and Rose Willits of Milan; a brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Mary Vipond of Aledo; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children: Karen DeGeeter and Kevin Fisher; and siblings: Mary Vipond, Malon “Bub” Vipond, Jr., Shirley Whitehall, Jim Vipond, and Jack Vipond.
