The next steps were taken in the Aledo Aquatics Center project at this week’s Aledo City Council meeting.
On Monday, the council held a public hearing for the issuance of up to $4,000,000 in General Obligation Bonds for the project. The project’s estimated cost is $6.4 million. The City of Aledo has raised $5.3 million for the project. Those donations are expected to be received over five years.
Aledo Mayor Chris Hagloch says the repayment process will be covered by the pledges.
Also, the City awarded the construction contract to Centennial Contractors of Moline for $4,736,500 and approved the purchase of splash pad equipment from VORTEX Aquatics Structures International for $289,688.25, which will save more than $30,000.
The City of Aledo is aiming to break ground on the Aquatics Center project this month with a targeted opening date in May 2026. It will be constructed at the former Aledo Farmers Grain & Coal site.
