Jury Trial For New Boston Man Facing Sex Abuse Charge Pushed To November

A jury trial has been moved to November for a New Boston man facing a felony sexual abuse charge.

24-year-old Gage Welch appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court last week, where a jury trial has been set to begin on Nov. 30. It was originally scheduled for next month.

Welch was arrested last June and charged with a Class 2 felony of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a Mercer County Sheriff’s Department press release at the time of the arrest. He was released from custody following his arrest with conditions, including no contact with the alleged victim.

Welch has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
