Rockridge and Brimfield-Elmwood each picked up convincing shutout wins in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Kewanee Softball Regional on Tuesday.
The Indians (27-5) blanked Mercer County 9-0.
Brimfield-Elmwood scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and led for the entire day. Sawyer Drury threw a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and compiling 15 strikeouts in seven innings.
The Golden Eagles (14-14) committed five errors in the loss, including four in the first inning.
The Rockets (25-8) dispatched Kewanee 10-0 in six innings.
Rockridge plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning and scored a run in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Emilee Black launched a grand slam in the fourth inning to break the game open.
Black finished with three hits and four RBI, and Charley Perkins collected four hits in the win.
Tatum Lowe picked up the win for Rockridge, throwing six shutout innings and striking out nine batters.
Brimfield-Elmwood (No. 8 2A) and Rockridge (No. 9 2A) will play for the regional championship on Friday in Kewanee at 4:30 p.m.
