Bailey Opposes State Sen. Anderson’s Push To Ban Abortions In Illinois, Calls Bill ‘Too Far’

An Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate is calling a local state senator’s push to outlaw abortions in the state “too far.”

State Sen. Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) has introduced legislation that would outlaw abortions in Illinois and aims to classify the procedure as homicide. There are no exceptions for rape, incest, or fertility treatments like IVF in the bill.

During a campaign stop in Aledo on Saturday, Darren Bailey told WRMJ that he doesn’t support the measure.

Last week, Illinois Senate Republican leader John Curran said the bill has no GOP support.

Bailey is one of four candidates vying for the Republican nomination for Illinois governor.
