The Sherrard School District is adding junior high cross country as an interscholastic sport.
The addition was approved at the district’s May Board of Education meeting on Wednesday. Previously, junior high cross country was offered in a club format at Sherrard.
Sherrard High School won Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) championships in boys and girls cross country in the fall. The Tigers’ girls cross country program has won four consecutive conference championships.
The district is hoping to start the junior high program in the fall of 2025.
Mercer County and Orion also offer junior high cross country.
