Stray dogs and cats will have a new place to go in the New Year. A new Mercer County Animal Shelter is under construction. Ground was broken on the new facility last July. FurEver Friends for Mercer County Animals helped raise money for the project says the group’s vice president Jerry Bryan of Sherrard.
RKE Construction of Buffalo Prairie is the contractor for the 2,100 square foot building, which is being built near the existing facility behind the Mercer County Highway Department, just west of Aledo.
