A driver able to escape serious injury after the car they were driving lands in a flooded area near the Pope Creek bridge just north of Keithsburg. A Mercer County Sheriff’s Department report indicates the accident occurred Monday on 76th Street. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and position himself on top of the car until he was rescued by the Keithsburg Fire Department via boat. The vehicle was completely submerged in water and later recovered. The New Boston Police Department also assisted at the scene. The driver’s name has not been released.
