Sherrard (19-9) saw its baseball season end in a 2-1 loss to Eureka (32-4) in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A IVC Sectional in Chillicothe on Wednesday.
Eureka opened the scoring when Cohen Alstat scored on a wild pitch after a two-out triple. Sherrard tied the game on an RBI ground rule double by Garrett Woodward in the bottom of the first.
The Hornets scored the game-winning run on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the fourth.
The Tigers stranded six runners in scoring position in the loss.
Aidan Terronez allowed two runs on three hits and struck out 13 batters in seven innings. He finishes the season with 131 strikeouts, which broke the single-season strikeout record in the Tiger baseball program of 121. Cody Adams held the previous record from the 2005 season.
