Robert M. Adolphson – Services 11/4/24

Robert M. Adolphson, Jr., 93 of Aledo, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday November 4, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. No visitation will be held. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Aledo American Legion, Post #121. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Veteran’s Assistance Program or the Clarissa C. Cooke Hospice House.

Robert Miles was born on November 10, 1930, in Wapello, Iowa, to Robert M. and Gladys Marie (Roberts) Adolphson, Sr. Bob served his country in the United States Army. He married Joan Payne on July 1, 1951, later divorcing. Bob married Debra Harms on May 31, 1996. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2007.

Bob owned and operated Adolphson Well Drilling for many years and retired from Aledo Water Supplies in 2022. In his spare time, he enjoyed all things horses. He raised, trained, showed, and barrel raced quarter horses. He also enjoyed dancing to his favorite country music. Bob was an avid reader, especially enjoying Louis Lamour.

Bob is survived by his children and spouses, Michael and Karen Adolphson of Aledo, Kerry Adolphson of Alabama, Steve and Nancy Adolphson of Aledo, Cherie and Scott Mason of Orion, and Mindy and Dan Hunt of Hartsburg, MO; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and siblings, Mary Ann Vandersnick, Beverly Stoner, Ione Carr, and Gary Adolphson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Debra; daughter, Lisa Ford; and siblings, Howard Adolphson and Edith Wakefield.
