Rayo Lee Hibbs was born on July 4, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Leonard and Viola (Hegness) Hibbs. Her family moved to Davenport, where she loved growing up and meeting all the new people coming into the area. Rayo received her nursing degree from Moline Public School of Nursing. She married Clair J. Lloyd on March 9, 1963, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1992.
Rayo served as a nurse through many transitions with Georgetown Nursing Home, Lynncrest Manor, and Aledo Rehabilitation & Healthcare. In earlier years she also was a nurse with Moline Public Hospital. After retirement, Rayo still served the public as a volunteer with Adult daycare.
While her three boys were growing up, Rayo volunteered as both a Boy Scout leader and 4-H Leader with the Buffalo Prairie Ramblers. She loved her family farm, helping raise chickens, guineas, and all other animals. She especially loved her little dogs and feeding the birds, mainly hummingbirds. Rayo enjoyed theatre, particularly musicals, and would take bus trips to Chicago to see them and visited museums, mostly studying world culture and art. During down time at home, she enjoyed playing her keyboard and organizing her family memories in pictures and journaling. She was a talented photographer in her own right.
Those left to cherish Rayo’s memory are her sons, Scott (Brenda) Lloyd, Michael “Ike” Lloyd, and Phillip Lloyd; grandchildren, Jacob and Jessie Lloyd, Alex Lloyd, Sydnie Lloyd and Bryce Frenell; great-grandchildren, Blakely, Kaiden, Dawson, and Crue; brother-in-law, Alec Davis; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Granquist and Caroline Makoben. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Christine Lloyd; and her sister, Margaret Davis.
