A meeting was held yesterday to talk about the critical need for ambulance service in the area.
The Fire Protection Districts of Aledo, Greene, Joy, Seaton, and the City of Keithsburg jointly contract with Genesis Ambulance for emergency ambulance service. The current contract expires at the end of the year. The Ambulance Committee issued a request for bids in August. No bids were received.
The ambulance committee held a meeting yesterday with several local leaders including State Representative Dan Swanson and State Senator Neil Anderson.
Everyone present agreed on the seriousness of the situation and the need to work together diligently to resolve this before the December 31 deadline.
There will be community meetings within each Fire District and the City of Keithsburg to invite residents and share the need for citizens to get involved or strongly think about being a First Responder or EMT
There will be an upcoming First Responders Class in early 2024 put on by the New Boston Ambulance Coordinator. The exact dates of those classes will be announced in the near future.
