An Aledo woman has pleaded guilty to two felony meth-related charges.
33-year-old Emily Colson pleaded guilty to Class X felonies of methamphetamine delivery and possession of methamphetamine in Mercer County Circuit Court last week. The meth delivery conviction carries a sentence of 9-40 years in prison with a fine of up to $200,000, and the meth possession conviction carries a sentence of 6-30 years and a fine of up to $100,000.
Colson’s sentencing is pending her performance in Mercer County Drug Court, which the county started three years ago. It’s a program designed to rehabilitate individuals with substance abuse disorders and mental health issues.
The program takes a minimum of 18 months to complete, where individuals see probation multiple times a week, are drug tested randomly, subject to a curfew, have their movements tracked, are told who can and cannot be around, are taught basic life skills to help prepare them to be functional members of society, and more.
Through successful completion of the program, individuals can be sentenced to a lighter prison term.
According to a press release from the Aledo Police Department following Colson’s arrest last September, Aledo Police and Quad Cities MEG agents collected enough evidence to get a search warrant for a residence in Aledo. During the search of the residence, officers say a package was located that contained 250 grams of methamphetamine and 15 MDMA pills.
