Rockridge (16-3, 6-1 TRAC West) defeated Sherrard (15-4, 3-3 TRAC West) 6-5 in softball at the Joel Brunsvold Complex Wednesday.
The Rockets struck first when Charley Perkins delivered a two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Sherrard responded with a pair of solo homers from Makenzy Moran and Savanah Hauger to tie the game 2-2. The Tigers took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Rockridge knotted the game 3-3 with a Taylor Dieterich home run in the top of the fifth inning. Estellah Bognar launched a home run to lead off the sixth inning as part of a three-run inning to put Rockridge ahead 6-3. Sherrard plated two runs on a Nadia Anderson double in the bottom of the sixth, but the Tigers could not bring the tying run to the plate.
Dieterich allowed five runs in seven innings to earn the win for Rockridge.
Hauger took the loss for Sherrard after giving up six runs (four earned) in seven innings.
