Sherrard High School Hosting ‘Hidden In Plain Sight’ Program

Sherrard High School hosting an awareness program for parents later this week. The program is Thursday at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. The initiative is called, ‘Hidden in Plain Sight.’ A mock teen bedroom will be set up with contraband items hidden throughout. The interactive display will be searchable – to help teach parents how and what to look for in their children’s bedroom.
Sherrard School Resource Officer Mike Mendoza says the presentation was planned as a way to help parents be prepared with school letting out for summer. He says they plan to host another simulation in the fall for teachers when kids return to school. Local law enforcement will talk about substance abuse, violence, eating disorders, juvenile crimes, technology and risky games.
The district invites parents and concerned adults to attend the event. Youth are not allowed, but babysitting will be provided on site.
