The Illinois Coaches Association Softball has honored Jim Taylor with the group’s media Sportsperson of the Year Award. Taylor has broadcast every Rockridge postseason softball game on WRMJ, including all four state titles. He was nominated for the award by Rockridge softball coach John Nelson. Taylor’s work covering high school sports has also earned him recognition in previous years, including the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award, the Friends of Athletics Award from the Illinois Athletic Directors Association, induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and honors from the Illinois Broadcasters Association.
