A 1947 graduate of the Roosevelt Military Academy sad to hear that the two last standing buildings of the former school are coming down. The Aledo City Council has retained an engineer to draw up demolition bid specs for Niles Hall and North Barracks. Mel Bogus of Houston understands the crumbling condition of both properties, but is still bummed.
Bogus says another all-school reunion—maybe the last, is being planned for next August in Aledo and Rock Island. RMA closed in 1973. The Roosevelt Military Academy Rough Rider Association features 100 members and sends a newsletter to around 360 former cadets.
