New Boston Area Meth Case Pushed To Next Year

Another delay for a New Boston man charged in a 2020 meth case. The defense asked for and was granted a continuance Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court for 55-year-old Lester Ward. A new pre-trial date has been set for January 9.
The Class X felony meth count was filed against Ward in January of 2020 after Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies, Quad Cities MEG agents, and Illinois State Police executed a search warrant at his residence. Bond was set at $400,000 in that case, but he posted ten percent and was released in the summer of 2020.
Ward was arrested again last September on a Muscatine County warrant after Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a motorist assist north of Swedtown Road near New Boston. Last May, he was arrested for DUI and resisting a peace officer in Mercer County. A Jan. 9 pre-trial is also set in that case.
