Mercer County School Board Talks Facility Needs; Outreach Meetings & Community Surveys Part Of Process

Mercer County School District residents receiving surveys about future facility needs. Input is being sought on a variety of options—consolidating the elementary schools and building a new K-through-5 facility in Joy; updating existing elementary facilities; and/or making improvements to the high school. The Unit 404 Board of Education held a community outreach meeting at New Boston Elementary School on Sunday. Superintendent Scott Petrie is hoping many district residents take the time to complete the survey.

The survey doesn’t involve the planned addition at Mercer County Intermediate School. Stimulus funds are being used for that project.
Another community outreach meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Mercer County Intermediate School.
