Margaret “Marge” Lloyd, 82 of Aledo, died Friday, September 15, 2023, at her home. Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 21, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercer Foundation for Health or the Aledo United Methodist Church.
Margaret Dorothy was born on December 7, 1940, in Moline, Illinois, to Edward J. and Sarah E. (Culley) Freebern. She was a 1958 graduate of United Township High School. Marge was a 1961 graduate of the Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing, where she began her Nursing Career. Marge retired from the Mercer County Hospital in 1998.
Marge married Harold W. Lloyd on September 7, 1962, in Silvis, Illinois. From this union, five children were born. Harold preceded her in death on October 20, 2004.
In her spare time, Marge enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with drawing, painting, and quilting. Family members were gifted her beautiful pencil sketches, Christmas stockings, and quilts. Marge’s kids, family, and neighbors grew up enjoying her fabulous cooking.
Marge dedicated her life to healthcare. Nursing wasn’t her only gift, she also helped teach EMT classes and mentored other nurses and staff at the hospital. Marge spent most of her nursing career in the ER Department, but retired from home healthcare, which she found to be very fulfilling.
Marge is survived by her children and spouses: Dave and Kim Lloyd of Reynolds, Brian (Barney) and Tiffanee Lloyd and Steve and Reneé Lloyd, all of Aledo, and Sara and Blair Blaser and Andrew Lloyd and Angie Scott, all of Reynolds; 12 grandchildren: Kevin Lloyd, Kassie and Daulton Hainline, Briley and Mason Fullerton, Joe and Allie Elliott, Brody and Gabby Lloyd, Cody Blaser and Kynlee Dub, Bree and Dallas Wakeland, Bailey Blaser, Allie Lloyd, Essie Lloyd, Gracie Lloyd, and Abby Blaser; great-grandchildren: Remi, Vaughn, Nash, Gette, Briggs, Carter, Jasper, and Ruby; siblings: Edward L. and Nancy Freebern of Bettendorf and Jane and Mike Bare of Erie. Marge was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
