Competing Education Funding Reform Proposals Mean $300,000 Difference For Mercer County; $90,000 For Sherrard

State Rep. Dan Swanson

Local State Representative Dan Swanson siding with the Governor on the education funding reform debate. Governor Bruce Rauner wants to veto Senate Bill 1, which includes significantly more money for Chicago schools and move forward with Senate Bill 1124—which takes the Chicago increase out of the equation. Swanson also on board with Senate Bill 1124. He says it would mean $300,000 more for the Mercer County School District.

Swanson says the Sherrard School District would gain $90,000 under Senate Bill 1124.
