Closings & Cancellations

The Mercer /Rock Island County USDA Service Center at 308 SE 8th Ave, Aledo, IL will be closed until Monday, November 2, 2020 due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19.  Although staff will not be in the building during this time, we are still open and doing business remotely.  During this time, producers may reach the staff members via their direct extensions or by email to conduct official business.

The First Baptist Family Harvest Carnival at The First Baptist Church in Aledo that was scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28th has been cancelled.

Mercer County Senior Center, Aledo – Mercer County Senior Center will be open for staff only, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. They will no longer conduct any face-to-face appointments. No one besides staff will be allowed in the building. All appointments must be made and finalized via the phone, please call 309-582-5492 or 309-582-7221. When someone calls, they will be directed on the proper procedures for their individual needs.

University of Illinois Extension’s unit offices serving Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Stark Counties – temporarily closed until further notice.

Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District – Spring Tree Sale is cancelled. Fish can still be ordered online. Go to rockislandswcd.org to order and for more information.

Mercer County Quilters Guild – Paint Chip Challenge is not due until November.

Aledo United Methodist Church – In-person services will resume on Sun., July 12th. There will be three services at 8, 9:15, and 10:30 a.m. Phase 4 Reopening Guidelines per the State of Illinois will be followed. For more information, check their website at myaledoumc.com.

Mercer County Family YMCA – Starting June 26, the Phase 4 Reopening Guidelines per the State of Illinois allow the facility to reopen. There will be some guidelines that will need to be followed in order to provide a safe environment and adhere to the guidelines for operation. Mercer/Rock Island County USDA Service Center, Aledo – service center open by appointment only. All visitors will be asked about health and recent travel. Call 309-582-5153 for an appointment.

Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs – representative will no longer be having local hours at the Mercer County Veterans Assistance Office on the first and third Thursday of each month until further notice.

Mercer County Health Department, Aledo – facility not open to the public, but essential services available by appointment only – 582-3759.

Mercer County Family Crisis Center, Aledo – by appointment only – 582-SAFE (7233).

Edwards River Public Library, Aledo – going back to regular hours starting Mon., July 6 — MWF: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., TTH: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sat: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sun: Closed. Key library services return: browsing, computers, copies, and faxes. Also NOW receiving interlibrary loans. If you have any questions, please call the library at 309-582-2032.

Viola Public Library District – is moving to the new building at 1701 17th Street. It will take some time to get everything set up and ready to go, so keep watching Facebook and the website to find out how you can return materials and, of course, the opening date.
