Open Enrollment For Aledo City Residential Pipe Repair Program Closing Soon

Time is running out for City of Aledo Residents to enroll in a program designed to protect themselves against costly repairs of the pipes that connect their homes to the water and sewer mains.

This past January, the City of Aledo announced a yearlong open enrollment period for the Water-Sewer Lateral Repair Program, which covers up to $5,000 in repairs of the underground pipes, known as water and sewer laterals.

Residents still have the opportunity to join the program during the open enrollment program, which closes this year. This program is especially useful throughout the winter months, when water is more likely to freeze and expand within pipes which can result in damage to the system. With the average out-of-pocket costs for a homeowner to repair these pipes being generally between $2,500 and $5,000, the city is offering this program to keep resident costs down and pipes running smoothly throughout the community.

For new enrollees in 2022, the City has elected to waive the $25 application fee and preliminary inspection requirements for residents who commit to remaining in the program for two (2) full years. To get these benefits, residents must sign up by Dec. 29, the day City Hall will be open before the New Year Holiday closures.

The program has an annual fee of $144, which can be billed annually or monthly. To learn more and sign up for the water-sewer lateral repair program, residents can visit City Hall during normal business hours without an appointment.
