Competing Education Funding Proposals Mean $300,000 Difference For Mercer County School District

Competing education funding bills in Illinois mean a difference of nearly $300,000 for the Mercer County School District.  Under Senate Bill 1, Mercer County would gain $111.79 per pupil or $148,063.81 more in new money compared to $330.69 per pupil or $437,993.82 more in new money under Senate Bill 1124. State Senator Dan McConchie of Lake Zurich says the difference between the two measures is how the Chicago Public School system is treated.

McConchie served on the Governor’s Education Funding Task Force along with local Regional Superintendent of Schools Jodi Scott.
Sherrard would receive nearly $91,000 more under Senate Bill 1 compared to $181,000 under Senate Bill 1124 and Rockridge would receive $35,000 more under Senate Bill 1 and $67,000 more under Senate Bill 1124.
