Viola Homicide Suspect Facing New Charges

whiteThe man deemed a “person of interest” in an unsolved Viola homicide is facing new charges. 45 year old William “Pete” White’s projected parole date is January 19th, but he will remain behind bars says Mercer County Assistant State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee.

White’s estranged wife, 39 year old Melissa White died of skull fractures at her Viola home in October of 2011. William White was sentenced to four-years in prison in January of 2012 on a felony driving while revoked conviction, a charge unrelated to the homicide investigation. He is currently in custody at the Hill Correctional Center in Galesburg and will be transferred to the Mercer County Jail later this month.
