A United School District bus involved in an accident this morning. According to a Warren County Sheriff’s Department press release, the crash occurred at around 7 a.m. just north of Monmouth on U.S. 67. A north bound vehicle lost control on the snow covered highway and crossed into the path of the south bound bus. The bus struck the car, which slid off the roadway. Alexis Fire and Alexis Ambulance responded to the scene. The Monmouth Fire Department was also paged out to extricate the driver of the car. Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service provided mutual aid. Some of the students on the bus complained of neck or back pain, and those students were transported from the scene by ambulance. The remaining students were placed on another bus and transported to United High School. Once at the school, one student complained of a head ache and an ambulance was responded to the school. All injured persons were taken to area hospitals, and conditions are not known at this time.
