Start Of Deer Season Would Be Moved To Saturday

deer second seasonA state lawmaker wants to change the start of firearm deer hunting season. State Senator Dave Luchtefeld of Okawville has introduced a bill, which he hopes to call for a vote soon, that would delay the start of firearm deer season from the Friday before Thanksgiving to the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The reason: Luecthefeld says kids are missing school to take part in that opening Friday.

The legislation would not impact the second weekend of the firearm deer season, which runs Thursday through Sunday of the first weekend of December.
