Sentencing For Convicted Mercer County Bank Robber Delayed Again

dixonThe sentencing hearing for a Rock Island man convicted of two Mercer County bank robberies has been continued to this fall in federal court. 28 year old DeAngelo Dixon was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday at U.S. District Court in Rock Island, but the matter has been continued to October 2nd. He has also filed a motion for a new trial, which will be heard that day. Dixon was found guilty last March by a federal jury on two armed bank robbery counts in connection with the hold-ups of Union Federal Savings and Loan in Viola on November 8th, 2012 and First Community Bank in Sherrard one month later.

Dixon has aggravated robbery and felon in possession of firearm convictions on his record out of Rock Island County and an aggravated battery conviction out of Peoria County. He remains in federal custody.
