Sherrard junior Nikki Schmitt qualified for the Class 1A girls state golf finals at the Metamora Sectional Monday. Schmitt earned a return trip to state with a 76. Bloomington Central Catholic won the team title with a 324. Eureka was second at 334 and Geneseo third at 336. Those three teams will advance. Sherrard finished eighth, Rockridge tenth and Mercer County eleventh.
In Cross Country, Elmwood won the Amboy boys Columbus Day Invitational with 68 points. Monticello was second with 92. Rockridge finished thirteenth and Sherrard seventeenth. In the girls competition, Rock Falls was the winner with 61 points, Monticello finished second with 82. Orion finished sixteenth, Rockridge twenty-first and Sherrard twenty-fifth.
In Junior High girls basketball, 7th grade play, it was Monmouth-Roseville 30, Mercer County 19 and in 8th grade play it was Mercer County 40, Monmouth-Roseville 23.
