Schilling Reaction To Senate Passage Of Farm Bill

June 26th, 2012

Western Illinois Congressman Bobby Schilling, a member of the House Ag Committee, says his staff is reviewing the 2012 Farm Bill after the Senate passed the plan last week. The legislation cuts more than $23-billion in ag spending over the next ten years, but Schilling wonders if deeper cuts could be made to the food stamp program.

The first-term lawmaker is on board with producers being protected with a safety net.

Schilling’s 17th Congressional District hosted one of four Farm Bill field hearings last March in Galesburg.
