As the Rockridge School District deals with budgetary issues, a special community meeting will be held this week. Expenditure reductions and revenue enhancements will be discussed. The meeting is Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockridge High School Auditorium. Among the many possibilities are increasing class sizes at all levels, closing one elementary building, reducing administrative staff, establish academic foundation, seek property tax referendum, and increase registration fees. Final recommendations will likely be made in late February. The balance of all district funds has dropped from $5.7 million in 2008 to a projected balance of $3.8 million at the end of this fiscal year. The district’s Education Fund balance has dropped from $3.9 million in 2008 to an estimated balance at the end of June 2013 of $1.2 million.
