Pregnant Mercer County Meth Defendant Tests Positive; Will Have Baby Behind Bars

A Mercer County woman, who is eight-months pregnant, will have her baby while behind bars. 28 year old Kelsey Kidd of Preemption was remanded today in Mercer County Circuit Court to begin serving a two-year prison term. The sentence was originally handed down last month, but she was given a chance to remain free until she gave birth or tested positive for methamphetamine. Information presented in court this morning indicated she tested positive this past Monday. Kidd was then taken to the Mercer County Jail.  The sentencing stems from a 2016 methamphetamine case that initially saw a 24-month probation term, but a petition to revoke probation was filed after several positive methamphetamine tests in 2017 and earlier this year. Kidd previously served time in the Department of Corrections as a result of a Mercer County burglary case.
