The Orion Chargers advanced to their third straight Class 2A regional baseball championship game by holding off Rockridge 10-7 in semi-final play at Rockridge Wednesday. The game was scoreless until the Chargers pushed across four runs in fourth. Rockridge quickly answered with two in the fifth but Orion plated six runs in the sixth and then held off the Rockets for the win. At Tremont, Brimfield-Elmwood topped Midwest Central 5-2. At Rushville it was Knoxville 5 Rushville-Industry 0 and at Fieldcrest Eureka beat El Paso-Gridley 9-2.
In 1A regional action at Princeville Ridgewood rolled over Stark County 15-0 and at Havana United beat South Fulton 10-0.
In 2A softball regional play, at Alleman, Princeton blanked Alleman 5-0. At Sterling Newman, Fulton handled Stockton 11-1, at Mendota the host Trojans upset Riverdale 8-3. At Rushville, Midwest Central beat Rushville-Industry 7-4. At Tremont, Brimfield-Elmwood stopped Fieldcrest 6-1.
