Not Guilty Verdict In Anderson Sex Abuse Case

Judge Richard Zimmer returns a not guilty verdict in a Mercer County sex abuse case. 55 year old Moses Anderson was facing Class 1 and Class 2 felonies stemming from a 2015 investigation involving a ten year old girl. Judge Zimmer indicated there were too many inconsistencies with the victim’s testimony to lead to a conviction. He labeled the trial that occurred over two days in early March–a case of “he said she said”. The Alexis man originally entered an “Alford” plea to a lesser Class A misdemeanor charge in March of 2016, but was allowed to withdraw that plea three months later. In an “Alford” plea, the defendant admits that the prosecution can prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, but does not concede guilt.  Anderson had been free on $50,000 bond.
