New Boston Man Arrested Following Disturbance; Previously Pleaded Guilty To Meth Charge

A New Boston man arrested following a disturbance in New Boston. Travis Shoemaker was taken into custody yesterday. Upon arrival, deputies found him hiding underneath a mobile home. He has been charged with disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.  In March of last year, Shoemaker was placed on two-and-a-half years’ probation and sentenced to 180 days in the Mercer County Jail after pleading guilty to a Class 3 felony meth charge. He was also fined $5,000. He was arrested in May of 2016 and was also facing a Class X felony of armed violence in that case. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee was seeking a five year prison term, but Judge Richard Zimmer settled for the probation and jail sentence.
