Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy Honored During Mercer County 9-11 Remembrance Ride

A surprise celebration for a Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy over the weekend. Dennis Sabel was injured in the line of duty last November—hit by a moving vehicle.  He was presented a special Shadow Box on Saturday by the Citizens4Soldiers group during the Mercer County 9-11 Remembrance Ride. Sabel also received a Law Enforcement Purple Heart from Mercer County Sheriff Dave Staley.

Sabel was much appreciative of the recognition.

Sabel was injured the Wednesday before last Thanksgiving attempting a traffic stop. He was hit by Jesse Walsh of Sherrard, who was sentenced to 14-years in prison last February.
