Mercer County, Rockridge, and Sherrard All Win; Orion Postponed to Saturday

Week 7 of the high school football season began Friday under rainy conditions all throughout the area. The Mercer County Golden Eagles became playoff eligible by securing their fifth win of the season, beating United 42-0. Sophomore running back Zane Frick scored two touchdowns for Mercer County, who takes on an undefeated Princeville team next week. Rockridge also earned their fifth win in 2018 by beating Bureau Valley 22-14. Rocket quarterback Cody Bush hooked up with Cole Rusk for two touchdowns and the Sherrard Tigers won their second game in a row, this time over Erie-Prophetstown 28-6. Orion’s game at Morrison was postponed due to lighting and it will kickoff at 5:30 pm Saturday. A complete look at Week 7 action below.
