The Mercer County Leadership Academy graduated ten candidates Friday. The academy, sponsored by University of Illinois Extension and the Mercer County YMCA, is comprised of ten weeks of classes which culminate in a group presentation and graduation ceremony. This year’s keynote address was given by Ginny Wilson-Peters of Integrity Integrated. The two groups projects concerned an Aledo Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan and a “Vets Count-Kids Care” program. The 2013 graduating class included Oscar Hernandez, Amy Hess, Peggy Kaufman, Denise Lenz, Melonie McLaughlin, Leslie Roberts, Shawna Pearson, Shelley Potter, Sam Pruett and Lisa Wessels. This marked the 11th year for the Leadership Academy.
