Mercer County turkey hunters with a productive spring. 234 wild turkeys were harvested during the season–April 15 to May 16, according to figures released by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. That represents a 15-bird increase from a year ago. The largest harvest occurred in Jo Daviess County with 541. The statewide, turkey harvest was 15,189, up from last year’s total of 13,494.
