Mercer County Board Moves Forward With Slight Tax Increase; County Services Maintained

The Mercer County Board has approved posting the Fiscal Year 2018 budget for public view. It represents a slight tax increase says County Board Chairman Carlos Sarabasa of Aledo.

Consultant Bruce DeLashmit with Bellwether helped the County Board with the budgeting process.

County Board Member Brian Anseeuw of New Windsor was the lone opposition to the plan.

The County Board will act on the budget next month. The $5.4 million budget projects a small surplus of $11,690 with a cash balance of $144,522 at the end of the 2018 Fiscal Year.  The new fiscal year begins December 1.
