A Rock Island man’s federal trial in two Mercer County bank robbery cases has been continued to next year. A January 24th pre-trial conference has been scheduled for 27 year old DeAngelo Dixon. His jury trial is set to begin on February 24th and is expected to take two weeks. The new dates were set today during a court proceeding at U.S District Court in Rock Island. Dixon was originally scheduled to stand trial on December 9th. He is facing a two count federal indictment of armed bank robbery stemming from the hold-ups of Union Federal Savings and Loan in Viola on November 8th of last year and First Community Bank in Sherrard last December 10th. Dixon has aggravated robbery and felon in possession of firearm convictions on his record out of Rock Island County and an aggravated battery conviction out of Peoria County. He remains in federal custody.
