MCGE Golf Comes Up Short At Havana Sectional, Orion Volleyball Takes United Title

The season came to an end for the Mercer County boys golf team over the weekend. They finished fifth at Saturday’s Havana Class A setional with 353 strokes. Pleasant Plains won the event with 328; PORTA finished second with 330 and Winchester third with 337. The top three teams advance to state. The only individual golfer to qualify for state was freshman Jack Bumann of Ridgewood shooting a 79.

In volleyball from Saturday:
Orion won the United Red Storm Tournament beating Cissna Park in the champiosnhsip match 21-9, 17-21, 16-14.
And West Prairie won the Panther Invitational at UTHS in East Moline defeating Bolingbrook 25-23, 25-19.
