The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department announcing an arrest following a child abuse investigation. 38 year old Royal Willits II of Joy was taken into custody Thursday on domestic battery charges. The sheriff’s department press release indicates the Aledo Police Department and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services were also involved in the investigation. Willits is being held in the Mercer County Jail pending his first court appearance.
